Working principle of capacitance level gauge



1. Basic structure: The capacitive level meter is generally composed of two electrodes, one is called the probe electrode and the other is called the reference electrode. The two electrodes can be installed inside or outside the container, depending on the actual application.



 



2. Capacitance and distance relationship: When the distance between the two electrodes changes, the capacitance between them will also change. The capacitance is inversely proportional to the distance between the two electrodes, that is, the closer the distance, the larger the capacitance; The greater the distance, the smaller the capacitance.



 



3. Level effect: When capacitive level gauges are used to measure liquid level, the presence of liquid will change the distance between the two electrodes. When the liquid level rises, the liquid will be closer to the electrode and the capacitance will increase. When the liquid level drops, the capacitance decreases.



 



4. Capacitance measurement: The system will monitor the capacitance change between the electrodes through the capacitance measurement circuit. This can be done by applying an electrical signal of a certain frequency to the probe electrode and then measuring the signal on the reference electrode. The capacitance change caused by the liquid level change is translated into an electrical signal that the measuring system can understand.



 



5. Data processing and display: The measuring system will convert the measured capacitance value to the liquid level value. Typically, this involves calibration and data processing to ensure accurate level measurement results. These level values can be displayed and used by display, control system or other means.
